Further Research:
For further application and replication of the experiment, sensors of all sorts could be added to the Arduino boards to mix the inputs of different parameters into a single output. For example, a wind speed sensor and a light sensor can be combined to produce the output of sonification. In this way, the atmosphere is better recorded and analyzed.
In addition, as mentioned in the previous sections, the light sensors in our examples can be replaced by sensors of all sorts to suit the scenarios.
Finally, a more complicated algorithm to mapping the sensor value to pitch notes which can better express the change of environment.
Possible applications and research:
Reverse engineering can be employed in the process to convert the sound waves into electromagnetic waves, such that music pieces can be converted into streams of light. For even further and more advanced application, light can be separated and broken up into constituent spectral colors. This technique can be used to convert any music or sound into visual information. Two scenarios can benefit from the technique:
The population with various levels of hearing loss can be served to capture and understand the sound cues in daily life.
This technique can also help making physical installation art and music videos and films in the entertainment industry.
